An Eastern Phoebe perched on a branch

Eastern Phoebe (Sayornis phoebe) have been spotted recently around Hawk Mountain. This songbird is one of the earliest to appear from migration during spring in the eastern United States. The Eastern Phoebe is not shy, often nesting on or around bridges and buildings, making them easy to spot. They are named for their call, which is a short chirp, resembling ‘phoe-be’.
