Ernesto Ruelas Inzunza, Ph.D

Ernesto is a 1990 Hawk Mountain trainee graduate who departed Hawk Mountain to co-found with Laurie Goodrich the Veracruz River of Raptors watch site, and later, to direct the internationally award-winning Raptor Population Index Project from 2003 through 2006. Today he is a professor and research scientist at the University of Veracruz where he works with students on a variety of raptor ecology and avian ecology research projects. Before returning to Veracruz, he also worked at the Chicago Field Museum as an ornithologist within their biodiversity assessment program, so brings to Hawk Mountain contacts throughout the Americas. He currently serves as editor of the Wilson Journal of Ornithology and enjoys running, bird watching, cycling, and spending time with his family in Mexico.
