B.S. Education, M.S. Parks & Resource Management. Joined Hawk Mountain in 2018.

A former full-time educator and U.S. Army Veteran, Steve joined the HMS team in the fall of 2018. On a day-to-day basis his primary duties and responsibilities include facilities and trail maintenance, responding to environmental and medical emergencies, sanctuary security and overall land management in line with the sanctuary’s mission and vision. He also manages the Hawk Mountain Trail Stewards and Conservation Corps programs.

Steve resides on-site in the historic Schaumbach’s Tavern with his wife, Patti, and two not-so-bright dogs. When not on sanctuary grounds, he can usually be found floating down the river, taking a road trip on his motorcycle, trying out a new board game, or more than likely trying to get lost in the great outdoors.
