Bobcat Spotted on the Lookout Trail!

A Bobcat (Lynx rufus) was spotted on the Lookout Trail!
You can *hope* to catch a glimpse of these elusive beauties on the Sanctuary year-round, as they thrive in dense forest and wetlands, but have also adapted to living in and around developed areas in fragmented wooded habitats.
The bobcat has the widest distribution of all native North American felids, a nod to their high adaptability in a constantly changing landscape. They can be found from Canada to Mexico. Bobcats are not very large, weighing approximately 18 to 24 pounds on average, and are opportunistic carnivores, though they prey mostly on rodents.
