False Mealworm Beetle
Posted on in Recent Sightings by Hawk Mountain
A False Mealworm Beetle (Alobates pensylvanicus) was spotted on a sunny stump outside the Visitor Center. These large beetles are fully black and can be found under logs, bark, and in leaf litter where they predate upon other insects. They are active throughout the year but are most likely to be seen during the warm summer months.
