Gray Fox
Posted on in Recent Sightings by Hawk Mountain
A Gray Fox (Urocyon cinereoargenteus) with its kits were recently seen on Owl’s Head. Gray Foxes are widespread in North and Central America, even living as far south as northern South America. Although they are common in the eastern United States, they are often hard to spot as they often hunt or forage at night.
Gray Foxes have the unique ability to climb trees by using their semi-retractable claws to escape predators.
