Winter Wren in Summer
Posted on in Recent Sightings by Hawk Mountain
It may seem out of season due to its name, but in late June, several HMS volunteers heard the call of a winter wren (Troglodytes hiemalis) around the Lookouts. The winter wren call is distinct, and the species is also known for being a bit secretive, staying in dense forests and away from human-populated areas.
